Biographical information on the family of John and Mary (Unger) Barncard. The Barncards came to Minnesota in 1855, settling in Rochester, Minnesota. Three of the sons, George, Jacob Zed, and Jasper, served in the Civil War. Biographical information is also given on the family of Jacob Zed Barncard, who began the lumber firm of J. Z. Barncard & Co. in Owatonna, Minnesota and was a sheriff of Steele County.
